Axium Bankruptcy Update: W-2 Forms for AFTRA Members

As part of AFTRA’s ongoing efforts to protect members who are affected by the bankruptcy of payroll company Axium International, AFTRA’s attorneys have been in frequent contact with the bankruptcy trustee. The trustee has informed us that Axium has secured funding to prepare, and is preparing, W-2 forms for performers who were paid through Axium during calendar year 2007.

In the event that you do not receive your W-2, the Internal Revenue Service has a procedure to deal with this problem. You can ask your tax preparer for assistance or get more information from the IRS on the web at http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc154.html.

AFTRA recommends that you keep your Axium paycheck stubs until after the deadline for receipt of W-2 forms.

Since the announcement of the bankruptcy on January 8, AFTRA has begun contacting AFTRA signatory producers to ensure that performers affected by the bankruptcy are compensated for their work on AFTRA-covered programming.

If you believe that you are owed money that would have been paid through Axium—or if you have Axium checks that are not yet cashed or have had Axium checks returned for non-payment—please contact your AFTRA Local office or email axium@aftra.com.
